Hellofresh - Hello Fresh Gift Cards are a SCAM for Military and Students!
I called Hello Fresh and asked if the gift card purchase resulted in a subscription because I wanted to give these to people who needed food during the holidays. I was told no it did not.
I purchased gift cards for hello fresh. I then learned that the gift card redemption process required a credit card. So I was unable to give the gift cards to the people who needed food because they don't have gift cards. So I decided to just keep the gift cards I have left and use them.
However, as a military person/first responder I have an account that receives a discount monthly. I am being told that I can't use the gift cards I purchased on an account that is for a military first responder or student etc because of the discount. The terms and conditions of the gift card do not say anything about not being able to be used on these types of accounts. So now the company has told me if I abandon my %15 monthly discount, then I can use my $1000 worth of gift cards that I purchased!
Despite the fact that the terms and conditions do not explicitly exclude the use of gift cards on student and military accounts.
They are punishing people who they claim they want to award for their service or situation. This is ridiculous and fraudulent behavior that many people are probably unaware of, and I want it to stop occurring.
User's recommendation: If you have a student or military account with Hello Fresh don't get a gift card from Hello Fresh, you can't use it.
Monetary Loss: $1600.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
